The Boston Uniform

As we know, Ms. Julia is attending law school in less than a month in the fabulous city of Boston WOOOOOO ❤️‍🔥😀🥳👩🏽‍🎓. Thank you, thank you, for the applause everyone. Additionally, we all know the protocol when preparing for war. We train, we scheme, we plan, we plan backups, we scout. You guys may be thinking, Julia, we already know how you're gonna prepare for the stresses of law school you freak. Just workout, read your fantasy books, and shut up. But girls. I am talking about the war against THE Boston uniform. Oh you are unfamiliar you say. Let me indulge you.

The Boston uniform is known to embody three basic pieces. A black shirt, jeans, and a white sneaker (black boot can be swapped in at times). Lets lay that down as our collected hypothesis AND data that was corroborated by yours truly on my recent trip up. I had never in my life seen so many people wear sneakers (like white air forces still) with sundresses, etc. I know it is a walkable city by D***. I felt an inner sense of disbelief as I strolled the streets of Boston finding less fashion forward and creative wear and just athleisure. Let's just say I was beginning to accept that I may be a sore thumb at times in this city. Before you yell at me YES I saw some girls dressed more unique but I was just more surprised by the almost copy and paste font of the ready to wear items.

If you look up on tik tok, you will see a plethora of videos about this exact topic. (Picture inserted here of what comes up when I searched)

This is what I will be battling when i have the opportunity to go outside at school. haha (yeah sad). However, all jokes aside, I think it raises the question, is it for comfortability? Is it based on insecurity of standing out? Is it because of political and societal expectations on what is considered going out in Boston compared to per se a club in New York? I just always find it interesting how the area you live in can drastically influence what you wear. Not meaning a long sleeve because its cold out but a whole cultural shift on what is deemed acceptable to be in public in in these outings. What do you guys think? I will have to see if this idea is indeed true as I make my way through the trenches on a night out in Boston soon.
